Hi: New to forum just bought an Omega Speedmaster reduced. I seem to be confused about the year of my Speedmaster. The serial number on the back of the case is 55xxxxxx. Doesn't show up on Bob's chart as it jumps from 48999999 1990-1999 to 77,000000 1999+?? Is it just Omega, why it seems so complicated?

Thanks

I wouldn’t bother trying to date your watch using any of the online serial dating charts. They aren’t great, or really intended, for modern watches and as such, often lead to further confusion.

As above. Bob's is one of the better resources but online charts don't work for every Omega, this being one since while it is nominally a Speedmaster, the figures you list are for the Moonwatch, the Reduced serials run more like the other models. As you may know the Reduced model was introduced around 1988 and ran in various forms up until around 2008. 55m suggests to me circa 1995 give or take a year or so. What lume does I have? I suspect tritium. What movement is inside? Those changed over the years too. The bracelets too vary by year. The rabbit hole is deep.

Not sure on the lume, there is nothing showing on the dial when dark. The movement is a 3510.50.

That'll be tritium lume then, so tallies with my date of mid 1990s as Omegas after 1997 use Superluminova. The PIC for the watch (a sort of reference number) is 3510.50, the movement (also known as the calibre) has a 4 digit number and will be one of 1140, 1143 or 3220. What muddies the water though is that movements on these are routinely change and upgraded when the watch is serviced by Omega so you can't really use the movement type for dating and in any case they are all much of a muchness.

Hi, just compare your serial number to for sale listings on online sales sites where the watch is accompanied by a dated warranty card. I’d date your watch to 94-95 as @padders has estimated.
