Oh well...for my sanity's sake I shall assume the watch itself wasn't in the pool...

I sat next to him at a wedding a few years back and he was wearing this watch.

Oliver is a lovely man and has been a a great friend to people close to me. He makes some cool clothes too.

I take it he wraps plenty of chewing gum around the crown and pushers while he's diving in the pool??? 😲

what’s wrong? all vintage Speedmaster are designed for wear in the pool - once.

😀

If it passes testing and has fresh seals it’s 50m water resistant. He did have it serviced by Omega so would say it came back water ready.

Not rare to wear a watch in the pool 😗

I allways wear a watch in the pool, not necessary a vintage one though, but if serviced and tested why not? That is what they are made for...….like a Historic Racingcar, it is all Ok to drive the crap out of it in condition for it

Hang on, just searching for my ability to be irritated by what people do with their own watches... sure I left it round here somewhere...

What he does with his watch is his business.
He certainly seems successful and well off enough to get it regularly serviced and pressure tested...If he doesn't he's in a for shock someday..... I've a few vintage watches that have been pressure tested and guaranteed by my watch guy..I'd still only ever go swimming with my Seiko Prospex SBDA titanium Samurai but that's me.

As long as it's been tested, and passed a recent WR test, why on earth not?

He is wearing at the pool, not in the pool....
I would not wear my Speedmaster (vintage or new) in the water...
Cheers

When was it tested?
How long after the test does it stop being watertight?
Schrodingers cat?
Does the light in my fridge really turn off when I close the door?

Perhaps the correct DON bezel is at the bottom of the deep end?

Remember how little interest in, or knowledge of “correct” Speedmasters there was 15 years ago? 😉

Back when they were watches, rather than assets. 😗

Assets??🙁
Might have to start deleting my OF pics before the US Democratic Socialists pass a wristwatch tax.

The only time any watch of mine will be worn in water will be a time when I am concerned more about my survival that the survival of the watch I happen to be wearing. Prior to taking a picture of my 30-year-old Speedmaster 345.0022 several years ago, I gave it a superficial cleaning with a moist tooth brush, followed up by a quick rinse with hot water. I put the watch back on and took several pictures. A short time later, my crystal was foggy. No problem! I hastened to my shop, took it out of the case, dried it out well, and put a new genuine crown on it. Never again!

Sure.

There wasn't all this panty twisting about what constitutes a “correct watch”, value, or I dunno... swimming with one... before folks starting spending big cash on such things as “investments”.

At that point = assets.

And boring talk about investments.

When we all know that the most important factor of speedmaster ownership, is being able to ask “does my bezel go with my eye colour”. 😁
