I think the seller is telling the truth! It's original.
I like these beat up SM300s. They were diving tool watches and this one did quite a bit of work.
A new crystal will make a world of difference.
    Congrats!

Edit. Bracelet, 1171/633? Is a bit newer (early 1970s) but goes great with the watch.

I was watching with the intention of bidding, but the seller was shilling it IMO so I pulled out.

I do think it's nice and original though. A new crystal will do wonders. Well done, good catch.

I have a very similar one... looks ok, just the hands have a very green but I assume that is correct... the bracelet its not from that watch but that is a small detail

If you can... buy it... SM300 are really special

This will really clean up nicely and it has the early dial. I would think the hands have been relumed at some point and as mentioned the bracelet is later (should be a 1506/16) but still a very nice 300 - congrats.

Could you, please, explain the difference between the old and newer dial.
    Thank you.

The earliest dials have the '12' marker lumed and are correct on the 165.014 as you can see on my 165.014 in the pic below. I'm not sure when they were used up until but would think it is quite probably correct on this 165.024-64. I also have a 165.024-64 without this early version dial but with a higher serial number 2347... so maybe this is around the change over period for this dial type??? Would be interesting if anyone has more info on this.

You mean the number 12 itself. I googled 165.014 and seen none. My 165.014 1964 hasn't the 12 lumed. I am shocked ...

Every time these vintage threads pop up and I see all of the "here's my complete and pristine Big Triangle" posts show up, it reminds me how I need to get one of these before all the good examples are gone. I love my Speedy, but seeing all these posts makes me less and less content with it day after day. Ugh. Thanks guys. ;)

Actually I am not an expert on the exact dates around this type of dial, my information comes from original observed examples over the years. Hopefully kox will chime in with a more definitive answer!

At least with a BT there is no lumed 12 problem.
You mean this kind of pics ?
