Did Omega headquarters in Switzerland keep a record somewhere of all their movement serial numbers and what exact model of watch that particular movement was installed in when it first left the factory (similar to Rolex)??? It would be nice if there was a way to confirm that a "restored" Ranchero model, for example is a Franken-watch or truly a honest restored Ranchero. Please help. Thanks
Here try this. https://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/extract-of-the-archives/?no_cache=1
Ah very good. But I guess it would cost me $123US to check a watch I'm considering buying... I wonder if there is an annual membership option with a certain allowable number of extract orders per year?
It's very nice that this service is available, but it's not a very convenient avenue for a vintage Omega shopper.
Yeah, unless one is sold with the watch you're looking to buy, it helps to do all your research BEFORE you make your purchase. Otherwise you could make sure that the seller offers returns if the item is not as described and order an extract to check the authenticity if you like.
True...plus there's the issue with the extract not being conveniently available in the US...ie. I would need the help from my local Omega store.
About 7-8 years ago. After their chief archivist retired. You have been away awhile, haven't you! gatorcpa
