For sale is this very, rare Seiko Champion Alpinist 850 Diashock from 1963. This is the Stainless Steel version with the cool 24hr Sector Dial and is in amazing condition (in my opinion of course). I bought the Watch only recently but incomings necessitate a sale, a shame but books have to be balanced.

For a great article on the background behind these fantastic Watches,Christoph MacNeill has written a great article on Worn and Wound. Which can be found here. http://wornandwound.com/?s=Seiko alpinist

The photos

Crystal- unmarked acrylic crystal

Hi Nathan
I like the alpinist
Not sure on the Lume? Seems like it’s been done a little awkwardly? Do you have any history on this piece?
Regards
Ian

Hi Ian
I bought the Watch earlier in the year from the well known Seiko collector Bertnet69 - I asked a similar question when I saw it he said that the hand Lume was all original- during my research when I looked at other Alpinist pictures they had similarly coloured hand Lume. If you look at the Hands closely there’s no overlap to indicate poorly reapplied Lume, in fact it The Lume looks very neat indeed. He sent me this picture under UV.

I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions please feel free to pm me.

Best regards

Nathan
