IMG_6007.PNG IMG_6008.PNG IMG_6009.PNG IMG_6010.PNG IMG_6011.PNG IMG_6012.PNG IMG_6013.PNG I added a few pictures of a vintage Seamaster I want to purchase but I was hoping to get some help in figuring out if it is all authentic and original. I don't have much information on it other than the pictures. I'm having trouble reading the ref. Number on the caseback and was hoping for help there as well.

    Thanks in advance

Looks like reference 2848 if I'm reading it correctly. It should have a caliber 490 or 491 in it. The experts will be by shortly but to me the dial is a bit questionable. The text is fairly heavily applied and I don't see a Swiss or Swiss made. Of course I'm still relatively early in my Omega education so I tend to err on a more conservative side. Lovely looking linen dial though. The case looks to be in good condition.

Edit*--- I think I was in error. This should be ref 2846 with a cal 500 or 501. 2848 has a subseconds.

It does look to be in almost immaculate condition which is usually a telltale sign. Might be a franken?

So what are we thinking here? Not a good purchase?

Do you have a photo of the movement that isn't covered by "Ringer Off"?

There's just not enough information to make a determination here. I can't see the caliber number of the movement.

Unless the watch is very cheap, I'd just look for another one.

Maybe I can get an additional photo of the movement, I'll enquire.

    Its an absolute beauty.
I am far from one of the experts here but it looks like it the dial has been restored.

If I came across this and it was priced right, I would buy it.

Get a watchmaker to open it and take some clear photos and put them in this thread. Then you may get much better info and advise from the real experts here.

Thanks for the advice Ravineman, what do you consider a good price to buy this item for?

Obviously, that's an alarm watch. Must be a franken.

The value of any old watch depends on how much you like it.
Here in Toronto, these watches sell for between $ 500 - $800 and it's very common for the asking price to be $1,000 +
