    Hello!

I am looking to get as much info as possible on a Seamaster I purchased off ebay last year. I believe it is a ref. 501 from the late 50s and the lack of "Swiss Made" on the dial means it is likely a redial -- that and a few other things.

Basically, I am aware I made a mistake on this one and I am looking to learn from it so I don't make the same mistakes twice. I appreciate the help and am looking forward to being involved with the forums here! :)

Best way would be to buy from the sales section of this site. No BS.
If you are wanting improve your existing watch, you can improve the cosmetics greatly by having it re-dialed better. Won't necessarily increase the value but would look better :)

Thanks for the advice -- I hadn't considered having it redialed but that seems like a good option since I am not looking to sell it at any point

Welcome! Great looking strap! Looking for a correct dial is a good idea, but you know you purchased a redial so you are on your way to learning more. Enjoy the forum.

Looks more like a 2577 with a 351/354 with that caseback. If you shake the watch is there a bumping sound? Here's a 2577 with a right dial:

Thin lugged 2846's and 2577's look similar:

I think the OP's watch looks like a thin lugged screw back 2577 with drilled through lugs. image.jpeg image.jpeg

Here is a side by side comparison: image.jpeg
The 2846/2848 houses a full rotor 501 and has thin lugs that are not drilled through and both are snap backs. The 2577's pictured here are screw backs that house 351/354 bumpers. I prefer the Beefy Lug screw back signed Seamaster. There are more variations but this is what I could dig up right now. The big tell will be the noise heard when you move the watch. Whirring or bumping.

    Enjoy your watch!

Wow thanks everyone! Based on the pictures above it does look like it is the 2577

When I move the watch it definitely bumps
