Hi, I am considering this vintage seamaster chrono. I have never seen a dial like this one. "reverse panda". Has anybody else seen this? any idea how rare it is?

Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you. Spoke with the dealer, he sounded legit but strange that I can't find any others.

Depending on the price I would take a chance. Very good looking and the dial has a lot going for it - I believe it to be legit.

Here is one more found on the net (if it is not the same watch - but it does not look like it):

Hmm... The last two looks like they are the same watch. Have upwards smudged 3 o clock tritium and dark spot on the edge of the minute hand. Well - that makes it two different ones as the one your looking at does not have these "tells". The 3 index has a totally different look.

Sorry, but I am still skeptical.

Interesting and let us talk about it. You are skeptical and I am sort of positive. I base my opinion on - there are at least two examples and the quality of the dial is very high. The fonts, indexes, etc is spot on Omega. Applied Omega sympol, matte finish, aged tritium and perfect looking "T Swiss "T.

Sometimes you have to take a chance and follow your instincts. Who would go thru the effort of faking this dial/watch?

I say go - if price is right.

All of the other examples have the tachymetre on the inside. this version has no tachymetre. I like the watch and feel like it is original.

For pricing, I will have to pay 3K USD for it... seems high.

Not only tachyscale. The subdials have a totally different scale.

So what do you guys think? It looks like the first 2 pictures under my initial post all match. The later photos do not. Does it make it seem unauthentic?

Patiance my y(o)ungcollector friend, patiance.

Do not pull trigger until there has been more input here. If the dealer is pushing you to buy - let him hang for a while. At that price it is not going anywhere soon - even if he is telling you it is a hurry.

I am going on gut. I have seen a lot of c. 321 Seamasters, but have never seen the watch with that dial. Now, the price alone would make me pass, and there are plenty of no questions pieces floating around with the silver dial (and I understand the potential interest for having a purportedly rarer piece), so I wouldn't roll the dice if you are worried about the $3k without a lot more input and comfort. I do agree with the comment that it would be an odd piece to fake, but at $3k there is a potential explanation. I have let pieces go in the past due to uncertainty, as sometimes the adage better safe than sorry seems to apply.

And is that the only pic? No movement, caseback, crown side pix?
