Hi all, I recently had the honor of purchasing this 321 Seamaster ref. 2451 from a local jeweler who had it on consignment. Needless to say, I purchased the watch at an insanely low price and I couldn't walk out without it. I've been on the look out for a Cal. 321 Seamaster for a while because a 321 Speedmaster is way out of my price range. I think the watch is in great shape, along with a nicely patina'd dial, but you tell me: How did I do? First, the wrist shot! Please note: The scratches apparent are not on the dial itself, but on the crystal. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir but this dial is awesome. I love the beige, off white patina. Very attractive! Next, a stereotypical "watch on the fence post for hipster-esque cred" shot: My grandfather recently passed, and since we're both engineers, he gave me his slide rules. Figured I'd use them to get another "artsy" shot of my Seamaster in its natural habitat: Finally, here is the movement. It's in great condition, all original (99% sure, at least), and recently serviced by my personal watchmaker. He was careful to not replace anything that was on the watch, but he gave it a good clean and oil. Thanks for viewing my post and your advice on this watch!
Very nice watch, I actually am wearing a very similar one today, but I think without Seamaster on the dial it is 'just' a 321 chrono and not a SM.
Would this be considered "pre-seamster" since this exact reference was branded shortly after this piece was manufactured?
Quick bump because I came back to this thread to ask a question: I understand this is a CK2451, but can anyone tell me what version it is (for example, “CK2451-6?”) Also, what would be the original bracelet model be? I know it was a beards of rice type bracelet but I’d like to know the model number so I can order an original.
The 'version' will be clear to see on the inside of your case back. From your earlier picture I can't make it out. I don't think there will be a designated bracelet for this reference. You can try a BOR but will be dependent on well fitting end links to achieve a good look. I prefer to find vintage or vintage look 18mm bracelets with straight ends for some of my 1940's and 50's Omega's if I fancy a change from a leather strap. This bracelet cost about €50 on Ebay IIRC and I think it looks quite good.
Thanks! I suppose I should have said reference and not version. I’ve had the case open once and don’t recall noticing anything other than “CK 2451.” I’ll look tomorrow to confirm. Do you think a 1068 BOR bracelet would be period correct for my watch? Edit: Oh, and also, every other CK 2451-7 (the reference I’ve found that is most similar using some google-fu) has an actual numerical “12” marker as the top indicator. That is the only thing tripping me up with my research.
