Just picked up a nice black dial vintage Seamaster 166.010 with a cal. 565 movement which according to the movement serial number probably dates to 1966. Love the watch but was told that there was a quick set date feature on this movement......is this the case? When I received the watch I immediately wound it and attempted to pull the crown out to the proper notch to set the date but noticed that it wouldn't seem to work. I had to set the date the old fashioned way by advancing the hands 24 hours for each day. Any advice? Thanks in advance......I'm new to the forum and my main focus has always been old Hamiltons but I've become more obsessed with learning about vintage Omega's lately. Photo is from the seller since I haven't had a chance to take any yet. Dathan
Try moving crown till date changes, then go backward to 8 and forward to 12. Keep doing that until you get to the date you want....That's how my cal 560 quick set date works...
Pull the crown out as far as it will go, then push it in one detent. The date is advanced with a crown pumping motion.
Date on the 565 should change when you pull the crown all the way out. If it doesn't, something could be wrong with the date change mechanism, assuming it's a genuine 565 calibre. It could also be a wrong crown stem too. Anything happens when you move the hour hand between 21:00 and 24:00?
