All good points and while think then OP'S watch I was responding to another's comments in the string about whether or not this is a high end watch...I think the brand history and perceptions plays into this pojnt, but as mentioned a beautiful watch

Interesting posts. All this said that is one reason, why Record, Tissot, Nivada and some other brands are so interesting to me.
They were high respected watch brands in the 1930-1960, using very fine movements and dials, combined with high quality cases.
Just for the records: Not always and not at the end of the sixties when they tried to survive the upcoming shift towards quartz watches by building watches from lower quality.
For me it is always important to look from the beginning of a brand. Record & Tissot have a long and rich history as a brand going back to times everbody just was using pocket watches. So unfortunately Record dissapeared from the market, Tissot became a fashion watch company...

Just change your point of view and start at the beginning and not at the end of a brand. You will get a lot of opportunities to find hidden gems like my Record automatic shown in original post馃槈.

Thanks aapalileo, my first DIBS here at OF for one of my watches馃槈.
But I guess the Record will be a longtime keeper...
For your first DIBS just a small hint: There is an earlier Record with a similar dial for sale here.
U
nfortunately it comes with an earlier 022-18 movement, but the case with broad silver bezel an the dial are amazing IMHO.

`Yes, I suppose they are original. They are quite similar to the hands on my watch. And IMHO it wouldn麓t make sense to change original hands with a bit of rust/dirt ones. I had to add some other watches to my small collection in the last monthes, otherwise I would just have jumped on this one...馃槈

You're right, they are the same hands! I just didn't notice right away due to the rust. I emailed the seller already. I hope the crown is signed as it isn't obvious in the pics. Thanks again for the lead and for not buying it before 馃榾

To illustrate the point further, I'll use G眉belin as an example. Most were of "mid-high" quality, but to celebrate their 100th anniversary, they produced a special "Jubil茅" edition in very limited numbers. I have written extensively about one that I own, but the salient point is that the hand-wind versions of these models were in every sense as fine, or "high-end", as those produced by the Big Three.

Another new discovery for me! Never knew about Gubelin. Thanks!
