Vintage Omega tapestry dial 1962 quality issue?

Hello everyone.

I recently acquired this beautiful vintage Omega with tapestry design from Ebay and upon closer inspection, I noticed that the minute markers are off specially on the 12 o’clock mark and so are the rest by just a hair. I contacted the seller to ask if it is a redial and this is what he responded: “Hi, glad to hear you received the watch, no we don’t believe it is a redial as the tapestry style finish is not something accomplishable during redialing and we don’t see any evidence of visible wear for them to redo the printing. Usually from our experience most watches from the era even the highest brands and quality had minor discrepancies from lack of technology and techniques due to the age.”

I checked his other listings and He seems to be selling a lot of high end vintage watches and his descriptions are very honest and he responded quite fast. What do you guys think?

I think he caught a newbie, and doesn't want to throw it back.

His answer to your question is either Yes, No, or I don't know.

The only lack of technology and techniques here is the redialer resorting to using a sharpie pen for the minute track.

There are several photos too of the inside and the back. It’s a cal. 510, manual wind and 14k GF at the back. The tapestry is beautiful but the markers being off is I think a huge discrepancy and you’re right his answer is an “I don’t know” as well. The “A” on the brand too is not the correct font as well.

Clearly a redial

What is with the upper right lug or is the watchband damaged?

Thanks for the responses! I’ve been trying to learn along the way. It’s a little overwhelming but worth it. Strains my eyes too but I pay close attention to details.

No, his answer is a paragraph of word salad to confuse/obfuscate/neuter the unwary newbie.

The thickness of the markers stamp this as a redial immediately.

The part about the dial texture not being possible to recreate is bullshit, as it isn't affected by a redialing where the dial text is removed... Who are the twats trying to cheat you?

Redial.
Even a tapestry dial can be correctly cleaned and re-inked.
As well as points already noted, even if the "OMEGA" was in crisp detail (which it definitely ain't!), it's not correctly positioned.

As @STANDY requests, and I do too, please post a link to this seller. Either the seller profile or the original eBay listing.

"An honest listing"? What a weasel! So he's been selling watches on ebay since 2003 but didn't spot that as a very clumsy redial? Gimme a break!

That’s the link to the item.

First watch I looked at from the seller

Original Cal. 551 movement looks great and is working well.

Has a broken adjustment screw 😗

Return it- as what you wanted and were actually expecting to buy was the nice 31mm watch running a cal.620 as written in the item description.

...and a contender for the over polished POS thread.

You guys are helping tremendously. I think I need to learn more about vintages before I shell out cause there’s so much to learn and too many questionable items specially on ebay.
