Hello everyone,

Picked this up at a local show recently for cheap. It runs still. Can you spot everything wrong with it? I might wear anyways since the sunburst on it looks really nice, and nobody will know but my watch enthusiast friends. Is this a redial or straight up fake?

Hi mate, welcome on board 😀

Your journey as a watch collector has started out with you picking up an old fake - sorry.

It's a pretty well known type of fake Omega and can be found in various iterations, one of the clues being the (fake) gold hallmarks being on the outside of the caseback which Omega didn't do. You can find a lot of them here.

Get back to the market and keep on fishing! 😁

Thanks! Yes, the poorly done indices (theres hair and lint and scratches all over them, visible even without a loupe) and the seamaster font as well as the generally cheap look - I figured it was fake. Didn’t spend much so I don’t mind.

Speaking of fishing, this would be a good thread for you to read (and 100s of others as well)

Welcome to the forum

That is a good resource thank you! I don’t know Omega well (the pictured watch was fairly obvious though, Daniel Wellington watches have more consistently placed indices lol), only luxury I’ve purchased is Rolex, but I love the look of vintage Omega and want to collect a few.
