I'm here for a homework lesson ya'll

Still hoping to pick up a nice vintage seamaster diver, and have been watching this one on ebay for a week or so. Read up a bit about the history of the model but still dont really know the enough to judge on my own.

Opinions?

I dont know this model either. Maybe a more experienced collector can tell you something about the dial.
What I can say is that the watch looks tired. It has seen hard polishing for sure, i cant imagine this being the original bezel due to the overall condition. The bracelet has a lot of stretch aswell. 3k isnt cheap for sure. I would keep looking for another example. Maybe a SM 120? You can find these in good condition for 2.5k

I'm sort of looking for an omega to rival my Seiko 6159-7000, the SM 120 feels more like a skin diver. Something larger and heavier, more 'professional' feeling maybe?

And while I agree it does look a little tired, I think the case finish was always a soft edge, so IDK if that really puts me off.

These have a beautiful gloss dial and although this one isn't too bad the hands seriously let it down.

The case has definitely seen a bad polish as it shouldn't be shiny. It does however have rounded lugs, they are never sharp to start with. The bezel is correct.

I'm not sure if the bracelet and ends are correct, I don't know the numbers out of my head.

For me it would be a pass...keep looking you will find better.

Here's mine, they are great watches 😀

Nice…is yours the correct bracelet and end pieces? They should be 1170/634
Trying to source a bracelet myself, might have to go 3rd party if that’s even possible.

Agreed. I would pass on the original poster’s example because of the hands alone.
