I just bought this for 1200SGD, from a vintage collector. Can someone help me assess if this is real or fake?
Someone once said that no one reads anymore. No one says hello either. Hello Sytan, Here are the posting guidelines, all we can tell from this picture is that it's a redial. https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-omega-posting-guide.383/
Hello sir and thank you for holding, please refer to the posting guidelines so we may help you. https://omegaforums.net/threads/vintage-omega-posting-guide.383/ We would need to see more angles of your watch, the movement and case back to ascertain whether it's authentic Omega or whether it's a Christmas ornament. Thank you for choosing Omega Forums, we look forward to serving you.
What next to no newbies realise is that nearly no vintage Omegas can be labelled "fake". They can be frankens, redials, cobbled-together monstrosities, but rarely fake - so while there is little risk that you are buying a fake, that is really not the biggest threat to your investment either. Just goes to show - without doing research, you're acting completely in the dark. Why not bring a flashlight?
Sorry everyone but is there more information that i should provide? I know I'm a newbie do forgive me. What is disturbing me is that the dial on 12 o clock only have 3"separators" on its left and right. Can anyone care to explain to a newbie like me??
Probably a language barrier, but you have already been advised the dial is refinished. That means reprinted, so it isn't correct anymore and further dial analysis isn't going to go anywhere. The biggest tell IMO is the font used in the word 'Omega' which is unlike an original 1950's dial
The one who repainted the dial didn't bother to paint 1 and 59, since they would mostly (all?) be covered by the marker for 12. And my guess is they were not visible on the original dial either?
