I am not into dress watches but I cannot resist buying this 50s Omega Seamaster ref. 2802-5. The patina on the honeycomb dial is just so attractive to me plus the price is quite reasonable. The all steel snap back case is 33.5 mm in diameter excluding the crown.. Btw, is it a fact that the movement on this watch superseded the Omega bumper automatic movement?

It's not a dress watch, deville and geneve were dress watches, seamaster was a everyday watch to be proud of, much like rolex datejust, the bread and butter of omega at the time, not a watch you wear for "dressing up". In today's world anything without a rotating or insert bezel is a dress watch but that's just not true, there is a middle ground between dress and tool, and these watches have always been what the brands have been where the brands are usually best.

I guess you are right about that. It has always been my perception that a watch without a rotating bezel, slim case and small in diameter is a dress watch.

Most vintage watches are smaller.. You shouldn't hold that against it:cool:
