Please can someone help me identify this watch. Found it im my father's drawer. Would like to restore it. It is working, it must be serviced, crystal replaced, dials either polished or rhodium replated, i dont know.... i assume that it is dated 1940-1950

thank you in advance

We would need to see the inside of the caseback, although Omegas of this era do not always have a case reference number.

Based on the movement serial number, I would put this one at around 1940. The unusual hands (Pontifex) make it a bit more desirable.

The dial has an original style to it, but vintage black dials from Omega are very, very rare. Most are redials of varying vintages. I cannot tell whether this one is original or not.

Hope this helps,

thanks for answer,

unfortunately, i don't have watch to show case back, and when i took pictures i posted i didn't took case back photo 🙁 , i left it at Authorized Service center last week, and i am waiting that they ring me back, in meantime i am trying to investigate myself.... If i remember correctly inside case back was engraving, steel something, outside was empty.... I wound watch and amplitude is expectably low, around 200, beat error is below 1, and rate was below -1 minute per day. Honestly i was surprised that is running

I would be very careful with an "Authorized Service Center" for a vintage Omega like that. They may want to send it back to Omega for servicing. That would be a tragedy for this watch, as Omega would likely want to replace the hands and maybe the dial also. That will cut the value of the watch by 75%.

Make sure that the watchmaker is independent and can obtain Omega parts if necessary. They are out there, if one knows where to look.

Thanks for advice, this one where i left it will examine watch and will call me to tell me what is art of possible. There will be no further actions if i dont agree. When i dropped watch off, old watchmaker looked at watch briefly and told me about rusted hands that they were rhodium plated, and that he dont know if they can be replated or only light polished (must see rust level) he looked through this scratched crystal…. Let’s see i hope for best, i would really like this little piece to be restored as best as it could without loosing its charm
