Vintage omega help!

Hello,

I bought this Omega watch several years ago in an antiques shop in Montreal. I think I payed roughly around £300 for it. I fell in love with the face and those beautifully shaped numbers. I'd love to know a bit more about it if anyone recognises it. I've tried searching online but can't seem to find the exact face.

I broke the winding wheel off it a few years back and sent it off to omega who repaired it for me. Unfortunately I don't still have the paperwork but I'm pretty sure they didn't give me any other info on it.

I'd love to know when it was made. I can't decide whether it feels art deco or 1960s! Any help would be great.

Thanks
Tina

(PS: ignore the strap and yes it has seen batter days!)

A close enough but not exact case reference would be the 166.070 which will give you some idea of what it looked like originally. If you don't have any more paperwork from its last service, you can find out the reference number by having a watchmaker open the caseback.

It would date from the late 60s to early 70s. Sometime in its lifetime the dial has been repainted, with the addition of those silver numbers, whoever made those additions was inspired by designs form the early 40s, so it would make sense that it confused you a little bit.

Actually OPs dial is a recognized genuine Omega variant, not a refinished fantasy dial.

Agree. I wouldn’t be too hasty to say that’s a redial. It looks genuine.

It looks legit to me as well but these were not extremely common. A few years ago I saw the exact same dial on a watch with a DOFASCO 25 year service engraving on the caseback. It had the box and warranty booklet with it, as well. It was late 1960s, I believe. I was going to buy it and then the seller got cold feet.

Interesting. I would have thought that arabic numerals that thick would be from an earlier radium dial, not one marked t swiss made t. I guess it was imitating that earlier style?

Hi there...do you still have the watch or the winding wheel that was broken off. I am looking for an original crown.
