Hi all - I’m a total newbie in the vintage watch world but was gifted this watch from my wife. It belonged to her deceased father who it is believed bought the watch in the 1950s. I’m wary of opening the back as I’m unsure how to do it! The glass is quite dirty but it states Omega with symbol and Swiss made under the lower numerical. Any info on this watch - type, model, date would be hugely appreciated by my wife and I. Many thanks in advance for your help!!

 

It is very difficult to say anything about the reference number, you need to open the caseback in order to tell. From the logo type it appears to be an early fifties (1950-1953) model

 

The important thing for now is that from the first picture the watch seem authentic..more pictures..more details..

Searching the internet, indicates it may be a centre second model? Any more info would be great! Need to figure out how to get the back open!

 

I think you'd better ask a watchmaker to help you with that or you risk scratching and other forms of unpleasantness. Should look great when cleaned up, I like it.
