I see what you are saying. I was thinking of the purpose of the object, and for the life of me I could not work out how to tell the time with a gun!
That's okay because my watch doesn't have a safety on it either.

I was doing this too, ended up with a pretty small 1940s Zenith in 18k gold. The wife loves it, though she also thinks she didn't exactly need it.... She wears it once in a while when she doesn't want to mess around with a phone.

I say go for it! As long as you think she'll at least appreciate the gesture. All the responses here are right on. She might not, and then you're trying to resell a woman's watch, which is difficult, and you've wasted a gifting opportunity. But hey, even if she doesn't enjoy it, you will, right?
