Hello guys,

hope you are all doing great! I am very new to watches, just recently discovered the beautiful vintage omega watches and of course fell in love with them. So I found this De Ville watch and i am wondering if it´s a real one. On the omega page i cannot find it and google image search shows me some which look similar but the dial is slightly different.
What would you suggest to pay for this kind of a watch? It´s quartz (I know, but as i am a student thats the only one i can afford and i don´t really mind to be honest), 32.5 mm Housing diameter.

Thank you for help and have a nice start in the week 😀

looks real but hard to tell with 1 pic . value is around 200 for another 100 -150 you could buy an automatic omega , they retain value much better than quartz

Thank you very much for reply! I don´t really care about retaining value but where do i get an automatic for 300?😁 The ones i found start at 600+ which is way too much for me right now.
I got 2 other pics:

May be a novel idea but how about saving up for an automatic or nice hand wound? Buying a quartz is ultimately throwing good money after bad, IMHO. Also, 32 mm is pretty small.

I hear you. Watch collecting can hit your wallet and obviously it shouldn’t be a primary purchase. Keep looking around though there are deals to be found and if you want a nice vintage auto or mechanical there a lot of brands other than omega that can be found for reasonable prices. Watches definitely increased in price during the lock down, that may correct or it may not but I’ll just give you an example of a couple things I stumbled across and both of them together cost around 300bucks. One is the seamaster deville which isn’t in perfect condition but it is certainly decent and I like it the other is a 60’s Waltham diver. These are by no means special just things I like. I just keep my eyes open at little shops. Make connections, be willing to give a friend a deal and usually they remember and return the favor at some point. The point is to have fun and the money part can make that difficult sometimes

Welcome to the forums! Good to catch people early and young...

A lot of the Omega enthusiasts here love them because they are awesomely engineered, classically styled, and have stood the test of time. This applies to a lot of other brands as well, and many of us collect other watches. I'm into 60s and 70s Seiko watches as my "budget" area, and there's lots available at really good prices when you know what to look for. I posted a 60s Citizen to WRURT that I picked up for next-to-nothing, and it's as fun to wear in the right circumstances as my 18k Constellation.

Rather than get a bad Omega (especially quartz) for the entry-level price, get a cool Seiko (or similar) and enjoy it for a while; save, keep learning, keep asking questions... and graduate to the next level when you can.

AND: keep us posted!

I was going to say the same thing cruise Jomashop or a similar site and check out seiko, orient and other brands. Used or new Hamilton as well. Not trying to steer anyone away from Omega of course but there are so many Omegas I like that just aren’t within my means and that’s fine man people live all over the spectrum financially. Fortunately those statuses can improve over time or you can but a little aside weekly or whatever and get the nice one you many. Of course if someone likes a quartz like the OP’s that’s cool, he is the one wearing it.

Thank you all for your kind responses! 😀 I just recently discovered the awesome omega vintage watches and when I found out that they are not too expensive I really wanted (or still want) to have one. I just like this classic, simple style (in gold) and i am not sure if an automatic is too huge on my wrist. But anyway, I think you guys are right 32 mm is pretty small.. i keep looking and you updated😀
I know that there are some other great brands but omega is somehow the brand my dad always told me about as his favorite one and I am really into their iconic letter.

I hear you wasn’t trying to steer you away from Omega as they are certainly are a great brand. You should keep your eyes open for sales on this site as well. A few guys sell some real nice pieces at good prices. I used to buy often for family in another country but had to stop a while back as mail just stopped reaching its destination in that particular country a while back.

The quartzes can be very wearable. If it gives you pleasure, that’s all that matters. My guess is you’ll be itching for something a little bigger and mechanical for when you graduate, though!

Damn all 3 are quite nice! And I also like, that they are pretty flat and not too heavy on my wrist! But you are right, after graduation something mechanical would be nice
