This beautiful Omega Chronograph gold watch was given to my grandfather as a gift from his company employees in June of 1941 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. So I think it must have been manufactured sometime in the late1930s. My grandfather was the only owner and I was given it upon his death several years ago. The watch is currently in Miami, FL in my possession. I do not have any manuals, boxes, docs of any kind. I have consulted with a few people, but would like the expert opinions of this forum to estimate a sale value and provide more information on it if you can. Thanks! VIDEO: I had it serviced 18 month ago here in Miami and have attached a video taken by the watchmaker that was in awe of the watch. Check out the video at:
I have no idea how much it's worth but wow -- how gorgeous. I'm hoping you're not thinking of selling it?
Thank you for your remarks - I am looking to know if it is worh $3,000 or $30,000 for many reasons (insurance and security are some of them). Thanks again.
A watch like yours is very rare. You would be best served by getting an Extract of the Archives through one of the several Omega Boutiques in the Miami area. Once you've identified the correct reference, then you can search auction records at the major houses (Christies, Antiquorum, etc. ) to see the selling price for other examples. The style is very similar to the famous Pilot Chronographs from 1938, but your watch doesn't have the pusher in the crown and is solid gold rather than steel. This is something that only very advanced collectors have ever heard of, let alone seen. I can tell you that I haven't seen one of these before. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
Um, yeah...that is worth a boatload of cash. I am sure the auction houses would love that in their catalogue.
Beautiful watch! IIRC I can vaguely remember @michael e selling one similar to this a few years back, possibly in RG. I would agree with the advice given above and would certainly put this one in the +€20K range, although I don't think the engraving is helping it in this case.
Agreed with Chris This is a very rare model, Michael E sold a very similar one and from memory it made £14K about two years ago A stunning watch
Good god, no, of course no, the OP certainly isn't... he clearly says it's for insurance/security purposes, right?
"have consulted with a few people, but would like the expert opinions of this forum to estimate a sale value and provide more information on it if you can. Thanks!"
Okay, after rereading your post, I see the sarcasm. I prefer mine to be less subtle; more like a 2x4 between the eyes.
very nice watch it it not a omega 33.3 or similar Similar on ebay at the moment http://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-14K-P...E-36MM-AMAZING-PATINA-UNTOUCHED-/152396733717Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I'm pretty sure he won't mind, good that you found the picture of the watch under discussion, I searched around for it and couldn't find it. Amazing watch, especially in RG
If all original that is a £35,000 watch all day long, awesome thing. I know a couple of buyers who would be all over this.
