I bought this watch for my wife last week - it was her birthday. I bought it from the guy who services my watches. He has told me in the past that he really likes Omega's especially for their timekeeping.

I can see that it's a 620 movement. The watchmaker says that the case is 14k and the movement looks like it's in really good condition. He put it on the timegrapher and the amplitude was strong (I think I remember 290 or 300) and that it was keeping good time. Other than that, he couldn't tell me much about it.

I really don't think it's particularly rare, though I couldn't find much on the interwebs. Searches showed that there were quite a few 620's made and it appears that they ended up in a variety of case sizes. The Omega vintage search didn't produce a result that I felt was correct, though there are many models without pictures.

Anybody know anything about this one?

I believe that's an American cased watch. Due to import tariffs in some years movements where shipped and put into locally made cases. The OXG on the movement is the tell. Hence they sometimes don't carry an Omega reference number.

Although I thought that hallmark was Australian, but I'm probably wrong in the hallmark.

Thanks for the help, Foo2. That does make some sense. I'll keep searching based on that new data to see what I can find.

I'm pretty sure that's a Jonell case. I had a Globemaster with a Jonell case.

OP, did the watchmaker tell you the dial has been repainted? Not particularly well either.
