... expect to see advertisements for (for example) Christmas gift ideas.... they advertised in specific magazines, at appropriate times of year.

Thx for this suggestion. I just picked up a Dec 1961 Life Magazine with a full-page Accutron ad 😀, and also this handy advice for buying watches: It turns out that most people on OF are over-thinking the process for vetting a watch, all you need is to look for a 17 jewel watch with Swiss on the dial 🙄

My brother recently gifted me a very cool Omega newspaper ad from the 60s featuring a Speedmaster, SM300, and a Cal 321 Seamaster. It is in great condition as well! Beleive its from adpatina
