Several folks have mentioned the Omega Sapphette in their posts. The Sapphette was from the 1960s era. Among my wife’s Omegas there are two Sapphettes which I have posted pictures of. Watches for women during that era were generally much smaller than the one you have referred to. The Sapphettes were done in karat gold (14 and 18kt), and had beautifully faceted synthetic sapphire crystals. They were sold in manual winders, and automatic winders. The two I have posted were well within your comfort zone. The marquise shaped one, is NOS and needed no work. The round one came to me as a basket case, and needed a lot of work. Had I had to pay someone to do the work, it would have ended up being a pricey watch. So you should be prepared to have any watch you might buy, serviced. I have added a third Omega, also karat gold. The tonneau (barrel) shaped one is not a Sapphette. Needed very little work, and also cost me well within your price range.

Thank you! I really like that Tonneau model; that's just her style!

But I bought my wife a vintage watch for Christmas two years ago got fed up winding it
In a draw now
an early 70s quartz by omega or rotary might fit the bill
