I’ve just won this at auction and I’m intrigued by the lugs. Has anyone seen these before.

Not that particular IWC with hinged lugs. I have a 1940s Gruen with hinged lugs. These go back to the day of Armstrong steering, 4 on the floor, and “plan ahead” braking. Commonly called “drivers watches”. They could be worn on the edge of the wrist.

Totally legit, IMO, I've seen them before. Looks great. Cal 83? The only minor thing I notice is that the tip of the small sub-seconds hand may have broken off. Things can happen over 80 years. ;-)

I’ll see if it bothers me 😊.

It’s a lovely piece. The patina is just perfect.

Hopefully it will look as good in real life.
