I have recently taken possession of this vintage Girard Perregaux watch which I found on a local classifieds ad. The unusual case and dial finish intrigued me. Unfortunately I have been unable to find anything similar for comparison. It was listed with limited detail, stating it is a 1950's time piece, that's about it. it didn't cost the earth so I was thought it was worth a punt. So I have the following questions:
Can anyone provide any detail on the model etc?
Are GP watches easy to repair/refurbish in terms of availability of spares and qualified technicians?
Thanks for any input you can offer.

Can't offer much help other than to say the info you seek is inside. Find a local watchmaker to open it up and get some photos of the inside of the case back and the movement. That'll give you a starting point for research.

Unfortunately therein lies one of the issues. I approached a local watchmaker with a view to doing just that, but was informed it is a one piece case, therefore only accessible via the front. The watchmaker wasn't willing to take this on as he wasn't familiar with the brand and didn't want to cause any damage or commit me to additional cost. It may be that this is the only way I can take this forward but I thought it was worth an ask before I commit.
