Camera is a 1970(ish) Linhof Technika V (purchased new by my mentor and former employer who died in 2012), hand held with Cammed Schneider 150 lens.

And the camera

And the camera

And to think there are days when I grab either a 645 or a Mamiya TLR and think "nope, something lighter for a six mile hike". Respect!

Here are a few more from other cameras (pardon the compression. These are screenshots from my instagram. Don't want to pull out the hard drive).

Bronica ETRSi

Canon AT-1

(above last two were experimental- expired film pushed 2 stops)

Hasselblad 500CM

Rollei 2.8f

And this for fun
Gotta love the Hassy! (I have two that are collecting dust.....)

Came across this website, they have some neat stand digitizing systems.

https://www.negative.supply/

They even have film processing kits - although the kits I saw lacked a changing bag/tent so that would need to be acquired separately.

If anyone has been on the fence about dusting off their film cameras or have boxes of negatives but don’t want to invest in a flatbed scanner, this place looks like a nice one stop shopping resource.

edit- looks like they do carry the Patterson changing bag so it is one stop shopping. But if you get into larger format or do a lot of kitchen sink processing, the Harrison tents are better.

I noticed that this thread hasn't been active since September, so I thought I'd revive it with a few photos I've taken over the last few months! Most of these were taken with a Nikon F Photomic T with a Nikkor Non-AI 50mm F/1.4 or a Canon F-1 with a Canon FD 50mm F/1.6!! B&W photos are either T-max or Ilford Delta 400! and the color photo is Kodak Ultramax 400!

These days I'm slowly but surely frying my brain at work... So I tried new things in my old hobby, photography. I unearthed some large format gear, and tried caffenol to be able to process at home without having to handle too many problematic chemicals.

Still testing, but I had a blast! 😀 Tried 4x5 for the 1st time, with film and direct positive paper.
Waiting for some parts to complete a small 4x5 enlarger... Lots of of fun to be had. Maybe I will try to get better than my crown/speed graphic combo... (Linhof? Cool looking, but what a minefield)

I completely support your endeavor into large format. 35mm feels like a toy in comparison.

So glad I found this thread today. Been missing having a camera in my hand lately, took couple year hiatus due to just being burned out from work, staring at the screen more to edit photos I take on my D700 did not sound fun. Since most of my lenses are manual film lenses, this thread has me wanting to start looking into a film older SLR that I can use to shoot with those lenses. But in the meantime, you all have inspired me to break out the Olympus XA, or even the Polaroid Land Camera and Mamiya Universal Press to use some of the Fuji peel apart film I have hoarded over the years. Many thanks for the inspiration and until I shoot more, here's my favorite mistake:

Loaded the pull tab wrong on the Land Camera and this was the result. While most would find it a repulsive apparition, I dig that it almost looks like some ghosted skyscraper in the photo.

Funny you should say that. I started looking at the F2 as well as the F3. Will definitely be doing some further research.

Depends on what you want out of it. The FE and FM series cameras can give you equal bang for the buck- although the FM2’s have hit cult status ($$) and the FA’s can have electronic shutter issues with age.

F3 is quite nice but once electronic cables inside give up, it's trash. A properly maintained F2, at least the mechanicals, maybe not the electronic meter, will probably outlive you and won't cost more than a hyped fm2n or fm3a.

Edit: some resources for the F lineup

I still have my F2 with MD2/MB1 with those fabulous butterfly battery doors. I used it for many years for grab & go at weddings and it was a beast with a Metz 45CT4 flash. The auto-rewind was an imperative when swapping out rolls after the bridesmaids came down the aisle and you needed a fresh 36 for the bride’s walk. You could swap out rolls in about 10-15 seconds.

Definitely not opposed to an FM. Correct me if I’m wrong though, are they considered part of the compact line?

Great point on the electronics of the F3, hadn’t thought about that. And thanks for think! A new rabbit hole to jump down and research and I’m looking forward to it.

Get acquainted with the various meter heads, they can be very different. From old selenium to more modern electronics, and different capabilities regarding backward compatibility. I personally chose the f2sb, because of my lenses (some Ais, some pre Ai, some not even coupled) and the modern innards like the f2AS.

Yup. The F2’s run was at the transitional point of AI to AIS so they did a couple prisms. I think I still have the one with the LED’s inside (can’t remember the prism model) vs the needle meter.
I had a pair of F3’s for years and still have my F3HP-Pro which was the last of the F3 run and heavily weatherized. Never had a problem with it…but it’s been about a decade since I ran it (no batteries in it)…so hopefully it’s still all good.
