I currently own this Seamaster DeVille. The case is 35mm, the lugs are 18mm. It has a marked crystal that is in excellet condition. It is a Cal 563 movement, and has been pressure tested to 3 bar. It has been fully serviced within the last year. I added the new old stock grains of rice band and I have the original band as well, missing an end link. My question basically is what is the ballpark value of this watch? I'm looking to sell it to buy a Speedmaster. For those local to the western Chicago suburbs this watch was serviced by Jean-Claude Roy, "the Swiss Watchmaker". Thank you for any help! Jon
@chipsotoole Everytime I see your avatar, I can’t help but think it’s Walter White completeling some form of higher education. At least at a glimpse that’s my take Great analogy, btw.
In an open auction on eBay (which as a private seller would be your best bet), between $500-750, but possibly up to 1000 on a very good day. To get anywhere near the top value you'd need very good pictures and two buyers ready to slog it out.
You will not get back the money you put into it having it serviced and finding the BoR bracelet. Why don't you just keep it and use it as a dress watch and save up for a Speedmaster as a second watch. The two watches don't serve the same purpose. Unless you don't like the SDV.
I did end up selling it to a member here and got back what I paid for the watch and bracelet, I'm only out the service money which was @200, so not too bad considering I owned it for 2 years. I am going to save for a Speedy Moonwatch so my budget will be @ 4k by Christmas, which seems reasonable for a newer model
So I guess the 200 post rule is a bit of a joke. Why don't we change it to 200 LIKES. Oh, hang on, that won't work either. Maybe the mods can block ALL outgoing/incoming PMs to posts like these. Thoughts?
If you want to take the risk buying from an unconfirmed internet user, I would say thats up to you. Hopefully due diligence by buyer and seller is carried out. The point of the 200 post limit would be to keep the sales forum safe.
FWIW, I was solicited by someone to buy it. I also provided the buyer with the contact information of the watchmaker who had it apart literally a week ago and knew it was legit. I also provided additional photos to the buyer. Due diligence was carried out. If he's happy with the watch he can vouch for me, or not. I'd like to use this forum as a resource when I buy my Speedmaster, possibly from someone on here.
