Oh, and then by way of some tipsy ebay bidding I'm also the owner of this automatic day/date Snorkel that I get the pleasure of taking apart & bringing back to life......

I recently pulled out my grandfather's old gold Bulova 218 Accutron dress watch and as I replaced the battery I felt bad that it just sits in it's box (too small for my liking). Around the same time I stumbled across this Devil Diver thread and saw all these really nice, classic diving watches with the red/black "Coke" bezels. So in honor of the man whos lap I would sit on as a kid and listen to his watch humm.... I've picked up a similar tuning fork movement but in the bigger, chunkier version.

And here she is.... a few character adding bumps on the bezel but it didn't break the bank & I'm amazed as to how accurate it is! Overall, really pleased to now have a wrist-worthy Bulova in my collection. Cheers Grandad!!

awesome watch, i own the same model. they look good on the wrist try maybe getting a vintage SWISS TROPIC MOD DEP diver band or even a nato/zulu strap for her ... just for a change of pace once in a while

Yeah, I'm really impressed with how it looks/feels and am quickly becoming a fan of the brand like @JwRosenthal. Quality goods without the massive demand (and hence rise in prices).

Thanks also for the tips on the straps, I've liked the Tropic bands for a while but bloody hell..... 18mm curved Tropic strap in black on eBay will cost me half as much as the watch itself cost! Lol

Vintage tropics are expensive and rare. I have had luck squeezing a 19mm Uncle Seiko tropic into 18mm lugs without it looking funky, but another .5mm could give a bit too much squish. If I feel daring, I may trim the edges at the lugs of a 19mm US to see how it looks.

@hmmmcamu Can you help me find the correct replacement crystal for the blue dial/bezel Snorkel I've purchased please (movement 11AOACB)?

The original crystal measures 30.60-30.65mm so I've bought three on eBay (637 AW, 1313A & 1468AY) and none are a match (the first is closest but 1mm thicker than original)?

Thanks very much in advance!

food for thought ....
since u have the specs (measurements) try reaching out to GS Crystals (yes the original company is still in business) ... they maintain OLD STOCK in their inventory of their crystals .... one thing to remember though ... make sure u look for one that is known as " DIVETITE " high dome waterproof. diver crustal they make ... the quality of their crystals are on par / the as with the vintage BULOVA crystals

Here you go, pics of back, inside case back and dial, plus pics of the THREE different 30.6/30.65mm crystals that I've bough including the only listed Bulova crystal (1469AY) at this size on the GS Crystals website (which is a cool like to have, thanks!).

I tried to do some research on ... https://mybulova.com/Bulova-Vintage-and-Antique-Watches ... i found a couple of variants with NO 23 jewels on the dial ... i know the admin of the page has information on this model and if u ask the group members they might be able to help u out, a good majority of the members are also watch maker on this site ... u should register/join the page/group
