I acquired this watch with a nice case, bezel, and movement but the dial and hands had been badly damaged by someone attempting to "restore" them. I originally thought I would find some old parts as replacements, but I really didn't make much progress on the project, and eventually decided to send it off for restoration, with the idea that I would use it as a daily wearer. I was inexperienced at the time, and spent way more on the restoration than I should have (see invoice below ... ouch), and ultimately I rarely wore it. The work was done by Mark Heist at Horological Services, which is an official service center for vintage Breitling, and they used only authentic Breitling parts. My watch boxes are getting very full, so I thought I would pass this on to someone who wants a nice watch to wear, or something to use as the basis for a vintage restoration. As you can see, the cosmetic condition of the watch is very fine. The case and bezel are sharp and the movement is totally clean. The dial and hands are pristine. There are some tiny specks on the crystal visible in the high-resolution photos, but barely noticeable to the naked eye. The watch winds, runs, and sets properly, and the chronograph functions are fully operational. The watch was serviced in 2012, but obviously I'm not offering a guarantee on the timekeeping performance. For the buyer's peace of mind, I'll offer a 2-day inspection period for established OF members with buying/selling feedback, but obviously I'd prefer to avoid returns simply due to buyer's remorse after an impulsive purchase, so please ask your questions in advance. There is no additional long-term warranty. My price is $2,500 by PayPal. That includes insured shipping within the US, which would be my preference for convenience reasons. Other payment or shipping options can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. I will consider trades up or down for vintage watches. Admittedly, it's hard to put the right price on this watch because it has service parts including dial and hands. On the other hand, it's totally authentic Breitling, and in phenomenal condition. I have seen many 806 Navitimers with service dials sell for more on eBay; however, sellers don't always disclose service parts, so ... Here are the specs: Make/model: Breitling Navitimer 806 (Twin Jets) Year: 1969 Case No: 1307909 Material: Stainless steel Diameter: ~41mm Movement: Manual-winding Venus 178 Strap: lightly worn genuine crocodile (non-Breitling) with authentic Breitling tang buckle Lug spacing: 22mm I will post links to my OF selling and buying feedback below, and I'm happy to share personal information by private message. If anyone thinks I have made an error in this listing, please send me a private message, and I will happily make any necessary correction. https://omegaforums.net/threads/dan-s-is-a-great-seller.78044/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/dan-s-is-a-great-seller.79576/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/dan-s-rock-solid-buyer.80126/ https://omegaforums.net/threads/dan-s-is-a-pleasure-to-do-business-with.80035/
This generated more interest than I expected. I guess OF members are not all purists, and apparently it was priced well. I'm happy to say that it went to an established OF member and contributor. Thanks to him, and to OF for the platform.
