·I have decided ........ on nothing, except vwo ( vintage watch obsession) is interesting and passes the time but can make you anxious and sad.
Most of the watches I want are near impossible to get at reasonable prices. I would feel guilty if I spent too much. I have spent more on new watches than vintage in the end.
Most of the for sale hold 0 interest, anywhere.
Private watch sales occasionally have something but it is rare and goes in 30 seconds if good.
Many watches I really liked 6 months ago I have moved on from, and now cant see what I liked. Exceptions are 60s constellations w Arabic indices, polerouter, rado world travel(!), longines flagships 50s Geneves. Steel w gold indices. Simple JLCs
There are exceptions to almost every rule I think I have learned.
I am doing too many searches of eBay etc.
This may have kept me sane in lockdown. The opposite may be true.
I think I am going to focus on identifying good sellers first.
Unlike most forums people are fairly patient w newBies like me.
