Vintage 1960s Seamaster

Been browsing for a while, first time I've had anything worth posting about!

I was visiting my father over the weekend he was showing us some stuff he had, not sure what prompted it, including a watch he got on his retirement and one that his father, my grandfather, was presented with, in 1965 -



I didn't get much of a chance to look at it, we were going out and I didn't want to pay too much attention to this and not his one!



Obviously it is a Seamaster, an automatic and pre-1965. It is not the original band I presume, it is a Speidel.

Any other obvious information?

I understand that it was my grandfather's daily driver - which seems consistent with the wear. I doubt that it has even been serviced at any time either!

Gold plated Seamaster with eraly 552 calibre. Service it and keep it.

Will certainly be doing so if it ends up in my hands
