·Hey guys,
Another of my watches up for sale today, a classic time only Zenith from my favourite era in watchmaking the 1940s. I bought this watch as a project as the dial, hands a movement are in fantastic condition. I was hoping to find another with a bad dial, and transplant these over into a case of better condition, but I am just getting too many watches now I figured I'd pass it onto someone else who will enjoy it for what it is, or indeed fancy the project themselves.
Dial: As you can see this 76 year old dial is in remarkable condition, as far as I can see it is completely practically blemish free. It is a two tone design, reminiscent of the Omega 30T2s of this period and uses a combination of arabic numerals and applied dot markers for the hours. It is completely original and untouched, and has a beautiful creamy and even patina. The hands are original, bright and show no signs of deterioration.
Case: Unfortunately the case is the weaker part of this watch, being in a less than desirable condition. It is serviceable however and remains wearable. The lug at 1 oclock had broken and was fixed with araldite epoxy resin for metal repairs and that appears to have a strong hold. It is a 35mm case, with fixed bars and has a clear Art Deco design, which I had considered having repaired professionally and replated but I never got around to it.
Movement: This watch has been in my possession for around 6 months and the 106 calibre movement is running well. It has not been serviced during my ownership so I recommend that the buyer has the watch serviced, although this is of course up to your discretion.
Strap: This case fits 18mm wide open ended straps or Natos, and will be supplied on the pictured handmade blue genuine crocodile strap.
Box/papers: No box or papers.
Please observe all photos and the description with care as I offer no returns.
