New to this forum; just acquired: an 18k Omega 2499 centenary with a rare 28.10 RA JUB bumper automatic chronometer movement..movement looks original and untouched-runs fine...case and crown look really nice and original...From what I have read-this movement is quite rare with only 2000 pieces made...The dial however-may be another matter; while it looks ok - it is no where close to any other 2499 I have seen-and to me is an obvious redone. (although the writing on the dial does look raised and not printed) Anyway-I got it for a decent price-and want to keep it because of the rare movement...does anyone have any opinion or advice on the dial-or know anyone who specializes in restoring these dials? Thanks nd

My take is it is not a good example - dial is poorly redone, case has been polished quite a bit and movement is not in good shape - the plating is pretty much gone. Unless you got it for close to melt gold value I would consider returning the watch if that is an option. While this is an uncommon watch, it isn't too hard to find a nicer example for sale.

Geez, somebody butchered the facets on the bezel and case edges. Pity.

Dial can't be saved, the lower edge of the sub dial has been polished away along with the circular pattern.

Your dial should look like this.

I was wondering who bought this one. I I have to agree with the others that this isn't a great example and you can't really save the dial. I suppose you can wait until another 2499 is scrapped and snag a movement and dial, but I don't know when one will come up.

Congratulations on the pick up, but how many of these old Centenary threads are you going to resurrect to tell everyone about your purchase? Personally, I think you've exceeded the saturation point.

Wanted to ask what you paid for this particular piece. Will help members on the look out for similar ones( myself included) assess the market on these better. Much less info on 2499 than elder brother 2500

Not sure that a 10-year old thread will offer much help with current prices.
