The seller claims the dial is all original. I have my doubts. The proportions look really funky. Thoughts?
If you look closely, just below the "waterproof" script, you will see that Steve is absolutely correct...
I found only one other Longines with the same reference online: http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/thread49118.html Based on the pictures, I'm not ready to totally dismiss the black one as a redial. The "waterproof" looks different, but Longines sometimes oused different fonts on the dials. Seconds hand is definitely not correct. gatorcpa
I think I'm leaning toward this one being original and the OP being a redial. The thing that has bothered me most about the black dial version, is the hour markers extend so far past the minute markers. They don't on @gatorcpa example which, to me, is much more visually appealing and, to me, more likely scenario. On the other hand, I may be totally wrong.
Hi gents, I don't understand why the OP should/ is a redial. The Longines logo looks perfect. I can distinguish old radium lume plots on some of the indexes. The swiss mark seems good. The case is scratched but why would it mean the dial must be beat? Scratches are not corrosion are they? A dial is protected by a crystal which can be changed, no? The movement seems in good condition, but the pics are somewhat blurry and overprocessed --that's a definite caveat to be cleared. Also it seems we'd need better pictures of the minute indexes to see the quality of the print. I would not advocate to buy anything in haste, however, why jump to the conclusion that something is "too pristine to be original" ? "Pristine" is not enough to mean "redial". Or else we cast an unfair veil of suspicion on many fine watches and collections. Happy to stand corrected.
That was my first impression. But a hand was replaced, the case is in rough shape (and the dial isn't). It's not enough to make a declaration as to a redial or not, but enough to make me to want to punt on 4th down. gatorcpa
Not to try for the score (win) and call a play that will give you a chance later. = not to buy this one, but to wait for a more sure purchase later.
Think of it as a defender deep in his own team's end passing back to the keeper instead of trying to beat a striker from the other team and dribbling out of the back.
Thanks for the explanation. These US sports idioms are really very cryptic for people who didn't grow up in the US. (Do women in the US even understand them? That would be an interesting poll to take )
