I know we have a lot of guys - maybe some girls as well who are in to cars.
No clocks in this vehicle but bear in mind it's a 1957 Bedford commercial 15cwt van ( three speed column shift)

Super cool instruments or what - immediately brought to mind watch dials but what watches ?

I didn't. They should have quit while they were ahead. On the other hand, I did learn a lot about electrical wiring from them:rolleyes:
1967 MGB. Dad helped me buy it because I think he knew it would take up all my time and money and I would have no energy or funds to get into trouble as long as I ran it.

::shy:: Holy moly, you're right. Can't believe I got those details crossed, after all the time spent under that hood.

Actually Smith gauges work quite well, it was after 1970 when Smith sold off the automobile gauge division that the sh*t hit the fan...

    http://www.hemmings.com/hsx/stories/2012/06/01/hmn_feature18.html

After VDO purchased this division they did away with the Smith facility, in Whales I believe, and at some point a group got together and reestablished The Smith name. You can buy new Smith gauges today and they are installed in Nobles, Morgans and Caterhams among others.

I lack the three d's too much to ever get involved in a car restoration project. Gotta tip my cap to those who do.

my first car was a '74 camaro SS that I bought with my paper route money. That car was only 10 or 11 years old when I bought it and it required constant attention. I can't even begin to fathom a total re-build of a hard-to-get-parts-for car. My neighbor has one of the best '63 vettes in the world (I think it's 4th or 5th in points) and that car is like a full-time job for him - constantly horse trading for some fender washer or clip - I don't know where you guys get the patience.

Where I live garage space is primo and I just don't the point of keeping a car in it that hardly gets driven...

    /end rant

My father was a car hobbyist and collector. His cup of tea is not really vintage but more like 10-20 years old cars. I knew what you mean by constant attention and a full time job. We had 1-2 full time mechanics working in our house. His full time job is in real estate but I have never seen him more happy than when he was in auto repair shop or spart parts shop. What looks like job for us was a treat for him. Thank God he could make money with his hobby (buy cheap car, repair and improve then sell after he get bored. Not unlike the Wheeler Dealer TV show.).

Love it. There's nothing more evocative than a DB and a dab of oppo.

Very nice Alpha, love the hill climb pictures...and I second Stewart on the DB::love:: and your MG, very nice, that was a great body style (do you still have this?). I am a sucker for British cars from the golden age.
