I own this Vantage wristwatch that was once owned by the last man to walk on the Moon. Capt. Eugene Cernan he was given this watch when he played in a golf tournament here in Vegas in the 1970's at the now imploded Frontier Hotel, Casino and Country Club.I believe that Vantage is now Hamilton watches.
You may want to reupload those pictures to the OF servers. Not a good idea to link to Facebook (plus we can't really see them anyway).
It is not worth much for watch lovers. It is just a gold plated watch given to an astronaut. Would be different if he actually wore it on the moon.
I think you may have to go about verifying his signature and the document and the watch's connection to the document to have it actually be worth much
@darty Cernan and NOVASPACE (Astronautcentral.com) had a very close relationship for many years. The certificate and the signature are good. If you reach out to Kim Poor at NOVASPACE he could probably tell you what the watch sold for when they sold it originally. That might give you a starting point to estimate the value. To be honest, astronauts drawers are filled with these types of items given to them over the years. The watch has no real historical significance other that it was once owned by Cernan. If you find value in the connection between the two than that is all that really matters. If you are looking to sell the watch I don't think there is much added value being once owned by Cernan.
Thank you everyone for your input I know it is legit and that the astronauts have tons of freebees given to them. I just get a kick out of knowing he owned it, probably wore it at least during the golf tournament and now both he and the hotel are gone. I will reach out to Nova Space and see what else I can find out about it. I did meet him several years ago at a fund raiser held in an Omega boutique, he was very kind and and we had a nice conversation.
