Similar to the service dial thread, if my '67 145.012 Speedy has an 1171/516 bracelet and is worth 1.0, what would it be worth with a very nice 1039/516 combo? There's a very nice 1039 for sale here and I was thinking about making my '67 all period correct. The 1039 is in great shape, my 1171 is in good shape.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Do it!

I have both and way prefer the 1039/1035 over the 1171 bracelet.

You can easily look on eBay to see the average sale prices of the two bracelets to find the answer.

I like both, but the 1039 is the winner, very comfortable and looks great.

I've just recently had the same dilemma and the conclusion was for me it's a small chunk of extra change to make your watch one giant leap period correct watch.
My 1039 is arriving any day now.

Thanks everyone. I made an offer on it. I think it would make me happy to have the 1039.

Make sure about end pieces...are those included???

A correct pair will run you a small fortune.

End pieces are not included but the bracelet I have on my Speedy now has the 516 end links. Pair them up with the 1039 and I should be original.

Interesting, the center links on a 1171 are not the same size as the 1039...is there a little room with the 516s on the 1039?

If you're looking at it from an investment point of view, then yes the 1039 is more desirable than your 1171. I have a pair of 1039 w/516's that are not part of any watch. I like my 1171 on my '68 Speedmaster just fine as it's more durable and comfortable. the springs on the 1039 can give and cause you some repairs down the road. Aesthetically, I do agree the 1039 does give the watch a different look as well.

All depends on what you're interested. If you're looking for a 1039 then you came to the right place, there is always one floating around for sale as you mentioned.....and they're not cheap.

Is there anyone stateside who services the 1039 bracelet? I'm not having any issue with mine, but it's pretty worn (like most I think) and I feel it may eventually have a failure. But don't they all feel like they are barely holding together - part of the charm maybe?

I had taken mine to my local Omega certified repair shop and he refused to work on it. Then I sent 2 email inquiries to his majesty MY which went unanswered. As a last resort, I contacted my watchmaker who back in the day used to be an authorized Omega repair person and he said he would fix it for me as a favor. I'm getting it back in a few weeks, hopefully everything will work out well. They're definitely something that needs a bit of maintenance over time.

I bought it! Now I need to find a nice leather strap for it, too.
