Any thoughts on which 50's watches the new collection which take reference from?

    New teasers here:

    https://www.instagram.com/p/Bdspho3h2e_/?hl=en&taken-by=vacheronconstantin

    https://www.instagram.com/p/BdwyCSLhMOT/?hl=en&taken-by=wei_koh_revolution

Extract from the second link (excuse the hashtags): "The launch of #vacheronconstantin’s new #fiftysixcollection of #wristwatches taking inspiration from the halcyon era of the #1950s the #jazz#ladolcevita the ineffable #style and translating this into a throughly contemporary collection of suave #modern#classic#timepieces"

It seems like Vacheron's website has been primed for this too.

My understanding is "back-in-the-day" Vacheron's best manual movement was their 353B.
I would be tempted to look for one of these 3 handed 18kt. vintage time-pieces in 35mm+.

a superthin/calatrava style three hander either manual or auto with an absolute minimum of ornamentation.

    34-36mm in precious metal.

or as above in a Tonneau style much like the Hamilton Tonneau of the 20's.

Is that a corrector in the 10 o"clock position in the first photo?

This SS VC looks beautiful, at US$ 11.700 is seems to be great a value proposition. Have not seen the movement finishing and I think it highly unlikely that we will have Geneve seal at this price point, but still...compared to the recent attempts py Piaget (Polo S), GP (Laureato), this really hits the mark. Distinct design with reference to VC's heritage but updated with a modern look and no fauxpatina...lovely grey sunburst dial.

For me the date wheel on both looks out of place. Stunning apart from that.

Better idea of the watch in this live shot from Ben Clymer below. I think the date looks OK..not the best feature of the watch but not a deal breaker for me..

Having owned a couple of vintage VCs with their beautiful 353B, Geneva Seal manual movements, these vintage VCs really are great values.

The movement is not "in-house VC"...Hodinkee have updated their site with the following update from VC:
Vacheron has clarified that this is not a Jaeger-LeCoultre movement; it's produced by the Richemont Group's Manufacture Horlogère ValFleurier and finished, assembled, and regulated by Vacheron Constantin

    You're a bastard ;)

Some of the modern patrimony series makes a half respectable effort at meeting that but as I have noted before once you go beyond 38mm it gets more difficult to get watches to look right.

You're welcome, mate. Found some nice live shots at Watch Collecting Lifestyle.

Independent of pricing and from a pure aesthetics POV, I actually prefer the Steel dial below:
