Curious to know if this piece has a refinished dial or cleaned incredibly well? Do not have enough experience to know and appreciate any help given. Is it a proper refinish or does this change value? What type of deduction would be given for this dial?

Thank you with any help given, having a hard time with spotting hints of refinishing.

    Here to learn,

    Thomas

After further examination, I've noticed the minute hand seems to overshoot the lines drawn, also that same line is off center to the curve of the dial.....

    Looking forward to other assessments,

    Thomas

Refinished. Type is not of sufficient quality.

What would you value a piece of this quality refinish? I'm curious to know how it changes the piece... is it the lack of patina as well? What are the things you're seeing that tip you off instantly.

    Thank you Tony!

The "A" in Vacheron and the "N" in Constantin are both easy tells.

Value? I'd need to see the case back and movement, but a refinished dial will degrade the value fairly significantly.

It's not a factory job that's for sure. I am told VC is one of the best.

Clean case back and perfect movement. $1,500 - $3,000?

Thank you! I will keep the "A" and "N" in mind for future VC's I look into. If it wasn't refinished, it'd be right up my alley.

I have one of these with a (badly) refinished dial as well. 4126, but in stainless steel. Very nice wrist presence. I plan to have it redone (hopefully) professionally.

I agree. The lugs are what do it for me... Share some photos of before and after! Would love to see your S/S ref.!

The precision on where the ends of each hand lie shows how off my original post was, thank you!

Staying neutral in all other regards at this point in the discussion - I would say the tiny overextension of the minute hand is not a killer, in terms of originality. Compare fonts.

I see inconsistency in the thickness of my text where as your text is flawless through out. My logo seems to be competing with the surrounding dial.

Thank you for pointing this out!

I know Tony stated that, but seeing a true representation connected the dots!

    Thank you again,

The first watch in question is a redial. Sloppy printing and the E that should have the accent over it is suspiciously covered by the hand.

The second watch above that Modest Proposal pictured has the correct font, the È in GENÈVE looks to have the proper accent mark & shape, and most importantly the ampersand (the "&" symbol) appears to be the correct font / shape. I'd want to see a very good macro from a slight angle to see if the ink has depth to it. You can usually spot a small reflection of light if it's original, while redials are usually flat ink.

I would be interested to see if the ink in the OP's example is raised with a macro side shot.

The VC I posted was mine. The ink was definitely raised on it.
