·Welcome to OF. Here is an original dial from I watch I owned at one time, from the same era. You can make comparisons. Although I will say that it can be difficult from one highly distorted and compressed photo.

For my info: this was radium dial originally? Edit: I have a strong suspicion it was so I'm guessing that it was. If this dial has been scrubbed of radium and moisture damage, and that's what it looks like, I would also suspect that it was touched up, and it sure looks like it to me.

·Please post undistorted high resolution images showing the dial straight on. Or study the comparisons as posted here, and also look for others on the web. Focus on the details/fine-ness of the font, the alignment of the text and markers, etc.
Moisture generally causes discoloration and I'm not sure how that is connected to "evenly spaced." I am noticing some very obvious problems with alignment (SHOCK-RESISTING appears to be dramatically off-center), but I hesitate to draw conclusions because of the distortion in the image, which is completely skewed.

·So appreciate the attention to detail, attaching better reference images. Wondering whether this is worth purchasing for a close friend? Do we believe the dial has been refinished?

·Depends. It's an attractive watch. I'm convinced it has been refinished. I saw nice originals going for $700-900. If you friend is a connoisseur and a stickler for details, I would say no. If it's $500 and he likes cools watches, then this is it.
Remember this is a manual wind watch with a screw-down crown so if it's a daily wearer, the crown will be the first to go...

··@SpeedyBirthYearFor me, the giveaway is the relative position of Oyster Royal to Tudor. It just doesn’t exactly line up like originals. And in that case a suspiciously clean dial like this one is easily condemned to redial status.
