UPS lost/stolen Packages BEWARE - UPS is not reliable

Never good to put those descriptors on the package, it's a red flag to a bull. If you must put something on the package use 'Precision instrument' for a watch, and something like 'Decorative item' for jewelry.

None of that info is on the UPS label of the package. It is all logged on the back end. But a UPS express box looks a lot like what new cell phones are shipped in which makes it a target.

I put Jewelry and Watches so they could not deny my claim.

Thought you shipped with ParcelPro? Who will not allow you to send a box with any mention of valuables. It's even so strict that if you try to send a package to someone with so much as "gold" or "silver" etc in their last name it will flag it.

Nowhere, in any documentation should you ever put that it's a valuable item except between you and the insurer.

(Wish I could tell that to some of the sellers I buy from, too - since my apartment was robbed I'm not too happy about boxes coming in that say "wristwatch")

It was not shipped via parcel pro. It was a domestic UPS 2nd day air shipment. No information was on the label mentioning anything valuable.

Thanks for the heads up. UPS out, FedEx out (bad experience, once dispatched a Speedy without collecting the customs fee from the customer, so i ended up paying several 100's of Dollars), leaving me with DHL. Combined of course with ParcelPro insurance 😀

Can you please explain the issue with FedEx? If you are shipping internationally, you indicate who the fees are charged to - if it's the recipient, then I can't see how FedEx could possibly charge you for the customs fees from another country, due them simply making the mistake of not collecting them from the recipient.

Drivers ignore the signature or sign « COVID » themselves and drop the package, avoiding contact with recipients.

Perfect opportunity for bad scenarios to happen 🙁

No delivery service of any kind is getting a signature these days here in Canada - not the post office, or any of the couriers.

I did mark clearly on the forms that the fees were to be paid by the recipient, yet they missed to do that. To add to the problems, i had the parcel collected by FedEx from my work address, so when i first refused to pay the US customs on the buyer's behalf, FedEx threatened my employer (large multinational company) that they'd close their FedEx account!
Even though it was made clear that it was a private shipment, nothing to do with the company i work for. That's why i eventually had to agree to pay the customs, to work problems..
Luckily the whole nightmare had a happy ending, when i asked the buyer nicely and he paid me the entire amount. A real gentleman from Dallas, Texas.
I couldn't believe this could happen!
Mind you, it was during the Xmas holidays, the recipient received the parcel on the 24th, not sure if it had anything to do with the customs procedure..(rushed, skipped, etc.)

Strange story. Did you consider cancelling the shipment at the moment, and then take it to a depot at another time?

You say it was a private shipment - was it sent under your employers account?

UPS rang our doorbell just this afternoon and I immediately answered. He was already starting up to drive away having left 5000 rounds of ammunition that I had ordered. If we had been away then that ammunition would have remained there on the front porch until we noticed ... or someone swiped it.

Did you put a few rounds up the truck's tailpipe?

It is your duty as an American, because apparently the rest of the world thinks we all run around fully armed at all times, shooting at each other for the slightest infraction (or just because we are bored) 😁

I'd be "skeered" the local UPS man might have a bigger gun than this ammo would have have fit. Another local UPS driver, who frequently delivers to my wife's office, collects and shoots elephant rifles. Wouldn't hunt an actual elephant, but enjoys collecting, studying, hand loading for, and shooting really heavy caliber rifles. Very knowledgeable about them, he is. Has a tough shoulder too. Of course all the fillings are rattled right out of his teeth.

Anyway, this ammunition was ordered back in early March, right on the cusp of this latest run by the hoarders. Ordered that is, but delayed because the hoarders cranked up their ordering frenzy. The order was only 5000 rounds of standard velocity RWS target .22 Long Rifle. I enjoy using the accurate, quieter, and lower pressure standard velocity .22 Long Rifle ammunition in my vintage target rifles as well as other oldie .22 rifles kept on hand. For instance, there's no sense in battering a good early 1920s Winchester Model 90 to death needlessly.

It was very strange indeed. I've been on eBay since 2004 selling watches internationally so it's fair to say i've seen it all, but this even shocked me.
Luckily eventually i got paid by the buyer, so i didn't have to consider cancelling the shipment.
It was a private shipment, sent privately, it was only the pickup address that had to be my work address (hence my employer's address), like it always is and has been, making perfect sense, since i'm always there during the day.
FedEx even confirmed they understood, just didn't care. How nice...
