Why bother selling it and realise the truth? Keep the dream alive!

A gorgeous Egyptian revival piece - I guess another reminder just how much variation, diversity and beauty in some of these early Longines creations. One can almost picture the time with some of the ads above.

@Sam11 I sent the link to the museum indeed back in 2016 and also let them know in 2019 again it was still available.... we’ve had interesting discussions about it but I guess like everybody they must make choices....

As for now, I can’t resist posting this which goes to show how far the Egyptian influence has gone. I hope you’ll admire my Egyptian revival art deco shirt with art deco (non Egyptian) Longines.

    Garths auctioneers and appraisers.
The watch was sold dec.1 2016.
The serial nr. is in the description.
It wasn't so hard to find, I used bing search engine and tapped in Longines Egyptian and voila...
I like these watches, fun to muse about and like you said; they transport you to a different time.

Thanka but I cannot find it. Can you please post all available pictures, including if available of the movement, the serial number, of the auction listing, and may I ask what the hammer price was if available?
In general it’s moat helpful if you post the entirety of the relevant information.

    Many thanks and best regards

Sorry I'm not the most tech-savvy, i don't know how to post a link to the site. Unfortunately there are no more pictures. The serial nr. is 3994537. The description of the watch is minimal, just informs you that it's early twenties. Once again I apologize for not being able to post a link, I hope the serial nr. can help out. Hammer price I don't know... I will try and find out.
    Best regards.

Not a Longines but an Egyptian revival Gruen. Thé pictures are from eBay, i just bought it. Thé delivery date should be my birthday. The pictures aren't very good but there are scarab beetles in the design apparently. I look forward to being able to post a better picture.

I agree from the unexplained technologically advanced artifacts from ancient Egypt until the mysterious Queen Cleopatra, Egyptology is interesting

Very nice. Europe was crazy with Egypt at the time. Everything "Egypt" was hyped.

You can see this also in the "Egytienne" typefaces that came up at that time: bold fonts with heavy serifes which were considered to by Egypt-style for some reason. "Rockwell" is a common typeface still in use today that is in that style.

The details of the crown, and the inlaid stones throughout are marvelous. The caliber is lovely. Especially the regulator is very nice!
