EDIT- I picked it up today thank you all to your help! I am including a few new photos I just snapped as well. Also, was able to get the "original" box. Same reference posted on it - who knows if it is real.

Hi all, I have been reviewing this site for a few months but have yet to post. What a wealth of knowledge I have gained from you all! That said, I have a 105-012.064 speedy that I am looking at making my first piece of my collection. It is reserved for pickup today for me at a very reputable local shop, but I wanted to get some other eyes on it for their thoughts. The shop is also going to service it and offer a year warranty to me. I was told that this was a safe queen that came in on trader from a local collector. His name is engraved on the caseback as well, which I don't love, but cant seem to find a ton of information on how much that would affect value. If you guys wouldn't mind giving some opinion here it would be greatly appreciated. The watchmaker at the local shop thinks that most, if not all parts are original. The dial is in very great shape for the age and the second hand has a different patina/fade than the other hands do which makes me somewhat concerned about their originality. Take a look and let me know your thoughts.

BTW - I have this locked up at just about $11K.

Hi!

What I see: Original crown, pushers, bezel correct and genuine. Excellent looking case!!!

Given the movement is genuine also it seems like an very attractive offer.

Wait for the pros to analyse the lume/hands, I'm a bit scpetic.

Bracelet and endlinks are signed? What are the numbers?

Good luck!

That is an almost unbelievably good price including the bracelet, serviced, with warranty from a brick and mortar retailer. Most of it looks good, except perhaps for the h/m hands. The price is the main thing that makes me skeptical.

It's a fantastic watch in fantastic condition. Don't hesitate at all.

As far as your question: caseback engravings don't make a huge difference in terms of price. Sometimes they deflate it a bit, but not consistently, that I can see.

I appreciate the insight. I am still a bit new at all of this - what should I look for in the Bracelt and Endlinks?

From the images you are showing it’s a wonderful example. As everyone has already mentioned; great dial, case, bezel and comes with what appears to be a 1506 bracelet.
The price seems very low which almost makes one think... is it too good to be true?

It’s definitely in the good category, if not better, and if you consider Speedmaster101 pricing, the head alone is worth at least 14k.

I’m envious... buy, buy, buy.

Appreciate the tips guys, as far as the pricing goes, I think they honestly may have not known exactly what the market was for this specific reference. This is probably the #1 or #2 most reputable jewelry store in my state so I do trust their opinion, as much as one can. After I had gone in three separate times to evaluate and question the salesman, I think he picked up that it may be a diamond in the rough. He later came back and implied that he thought they may have severely undervalued it.

THAT said, how terrible would it be if I wore this watch fairly often? 2-3 times a week? Again, this would be the first really nice piece in my collection but I also understand that this is a fantastic condition speedmaster. I fought back and forth for a while if I should buy an original 321 speedy and pay up. Or go ahead and buy a new one, as well as a tudor/breitling - so that I could have two quality pieces to wear. I just turned 30, and my tissots and apple watch just aren't filling the fancy watch void for me anymore.

I don't understand. Why would it be terrible at all? Are you saying that if you spend this much on one watch, you won't have a budget left to buy 5 others for your rotation? That's really a matter for you to decide, not us. Some people like to rotate their watches for variety, while others are happy to wear the same watch every day.

Great first buy, I'd say - looks clean, original apart from the sub hands - they look like newer replacements only going on the colour, but it's tricky to say from the photos and certainly doesn't detract. Well done!

I wouldn't hesitate in wearing this watch 2-3x per week, these were tool watches and are meant to be worn. Buy it before someone here figures out where you live and snatches it from your jaws ;-)

Good luck!

Oh man, you need to get down there asap and close this deal before he pulls the watch!

I’m not a pro at the nuances of lume application on this reference (ie the difference in factory application over time), but I would say (under correction) it looks good. Fantastic looking piece overall...WIGH.

Having read a ton of other posts, I got somewhat discouraged by people shunning wearing a watch of this caliber regularly. For now, this is the only one that will fit my budget, I expect to be able to grow the collection by 1-2 pieces like this every year. I will take all of your advice, and wear it proudly.
