Hello,

You might remember my previous thread about a connie with a pretty good amount of dirt for which I lost the auction, I found another connie and this time I bought it. I just want your opinion on my buy 😗

I pulled the trigger because the case is sharp to my eye, dial is in mint condition with crisp writings and original crystal.
On the other hand, the drawbacks are the incorrect crown and I think that the end links are aftermarket.

That looks great, the pie style dial makes it stand out. Where did you purchase from and how much did you grab it for?

I got it on an auction site for just above 1100 euros

Crisp lugs and case and that dial is exceptionally sharp especially on the BOR bracelet I would say that was a bargain price !

Congrats on your purchase! Very sharp case indeed. I believe a correct Connie crown should not be too difficult to source, should you decide to do so. Great pick! 👍

Definitely going to get the proper crown when one pops up 🙄

Nice watch, congratulations!
The crown fitted has the old style logo which I suspect was the correct service replacement at the time. This crown itself is no longer available. It looks fine imo, but if you want the original you need the 4204 thin decagonal version.

The reference concurs with my research thanks for the confirmation and the compliment 👍

Yep the crown wouldn't bother me either. That is a real nice watch and I believe I have seen head links like that before as well. Not common but I have seen them.

I would not buy it because a correct crown will cost an extra $200 and looks like the hour markers are black painted on tops , they start to fade away on some of them.

Oh really, what does make you think that ?
Neither can I see the fade nor signs of paint 🤔

Maybe you could tell me the telltale signs

Omega used two types of "black stuff" on these Constellation hour markers.
Black onyx inserts or black paint.
Black onyx inserts will last long and never fade. Black paint does.

To know which ones you need to look at the end of the markers and see if the black stuff is only on the top or goes down a little bit.

Hope I am wrong and you have a nice day.

Regards.

Given the present age of the watch along with the solid black color to the markers as pictured in the photos, don't you think the chances are fairly slim any of us will live long enough to see them fade significantly? 😁
