Must be a bank or investment firm. My last company gave us a desk holder and a metal insert for each anniversary,....did throw me a nice retirement party though ...

15 years of graft has gotten me several letters thanking me for donating the proceeds of what might have been a (modest) commemorative gift to funded research. Keen as I am to support such research, I might have blinked at the choice between that and a brand-new Omega. I wish the OP congrats on 20 years well-spent, and look forward to the haute-horlogerie fruits of the next 20.

My now deceased former boss worked for our government agency for 41 years, he was on the "old system". He retired with an 80% annuity of his high three years.....I will take that over the pin, watch or desk blotter any day of the week.

After 25 years with my old Company I received an 18k Longines dress watch, inscribed with my name, the company name and my service dates, presented by the Company chairman at a lunch in a posh London hotel, all drinks paid for and the overnight stay. No complaint from me about how I was treated.

Still have the watch, it works fine (albeit a quartz movement) and is rolled out for those dressier occasions.

The watch is still in the Longines catalogue and retails for just under £1800, the Company changed its policy not long after I received my watch and now presents a watch of your choice to the value of £750, you can add your own money if you want to.

A few of my Company's old bosses went with pensions like that and at a stupidly early age, it was so costly that the Company changed its pension policies completely and left the rest of us with basically naff all.

Ha! That was roughly the deal when i started, but over the years it has been diluted somewhat . But my contributions are still paying the pensions of all those "retirees"

I was doing the same for a long time but no longer, I pulled my pension pot when I was made redundant, my pot now works for me and no-one else 😁

That is a rally great suggestion, but this send them into the grey market and traversing that minefield. So I don't think I so. It's a big ask for anyone to go there and come out without disappointment. Also, it isn't just about price - it should be something 'new', whatever the gift is I think. I am a traditionalist, and I don't think getting a 'second hand' or 'used' gift is appropriate in the circumstances. It is the messaging as much as anything else from a company standpoint.

I should probably drop the idea of an Omega. It would be lovely, of course, but perhaps too much of an ask. Looking now at something like this.

If you are going to go Oris, consider one of their Skeleton watches. They are eye-catching, and seem to have a decent reputation for making skeleton watches. I like the Artix versions a bit more, but this one is more in line with a 20 year award.

I've gotten a couple of ideas, so not disappointed. But yeah this thread has re-enforced to my mind how lucky I got with the job.

Twice per month we reward our employees for their dedicated service and hard work by gifting them each a 'pay check' 😁

The reality is employees could get a pricey gift for milestone anniversaries, which would be at the expense of the pot of money available for bonuses. The preference has universally been for more cash at bonus time.

If, theoretically, I was offered a watch, I would go along with a new one vs having them try to source a vintage. I might steer them to Kingkley, etc. though for a BNIB.

I think Rado has some great vintage styled watches in that range. The Golden Horse 1957 or the Captain Cook Auto:

For a little more Longines has some great watches: the Legend Diver, Skin Diver, or Heritage Military

I agree with some other suggestions that it would be appropriate for you to ask for an approximate budget. Some have suggested that their recognition gift was only valued in the hundreds, but people in my wife's company (including my wife) have been given 5-figure watches (in USD) by the company to acknowledge 5 consecutive years of high performance. This has included DSOTM, Daytona, etc. Granted, these people add a huge amount to the company's bottom line, and I'm not suggesting your employer will buy you a $15k watch, but it would be better to ask than to assume.

This is what you get for working 30 years at the Met Opera. Meh:

That would be a great start to a "Show us your service award watch" thread.

After 10 years at one place I was awarded GBP200. Waited until the day I knew the Snap-On van would be outside the workshop of my local service dealer. You don't get a lot of Snap-On tools for £200 but what I did get is still lovely to use 30 years later.

How strange, I am just looking at those very same Longines watches, all three appeal but can't afford all of them 😉

Agree with Dan on needing a value of the gift- otherwise you are just daydreaming.
