Not sure if someone has already posted this, but I got a coupon, assume others have as well, 10% off watch with purchase price between $2500 and $4999, and 15% off watch with purchase price $5K and above (capped at $1500 discount). Valid through the 24th.

I'm not buying myself, but if I was, definitely wouldn't mind saving 10% or 15% for the next few days.....

I received it, too. Looking at the fine print, you can only use it if you receive the coupon...not transferable.

Nope.. thanks for trying! Targeted promo. With how many watches I have on my watch list they should have sent me one, haha.

I wonder if you can call up ebay and ask for the coupon to be given to you

I hear you, but on a 10K watch, you would normally pay approx $11K out the door with the sales tax, but with the coupon you would pay $9500, so for anyone about to make such a purchase, it's nice to save $1500

I hope so. Tax is around $600 on a watch I'm tracking.. it's essentially removed me from the platform for these sorts of purchases. I did receive a watch promo couple weeks back for $500 max discount.

This along with double taxation on trade-in vehicles in Illinois has really curbed my spending, for better or worse. Probably the former according to my wife. ;)

Yes, I think they are definitely feeling the sting on enforcing sales tax along with the rest of us, you are probably right on them trying to offset this cost to stimulate sales

The coupon works extra nicely if the watch you've been keeping an eye on has one of those temporary 5-10% discounts on it as well. Even after tax, I've saved around $1000 on a watch originally listed for just under 5k.

I got the offer, too. Under the terms, it says this:

"Coupon does not apply to auction-style listings or purchases made through the Best Offer feature."

Does this mean it will work only with fixed price Buy-it-Now listings?

eBay refused to extend a coupon to me. Oh well.

Yes. When I got the coupon they also sent me to a sale page with a bunch of new watch listings (at decent prices too, off the top of my head)

    I just bought a $2k watch  which means I didn’t qualify.

I won’t be using my coupon - if someone would like to use a “buyer’s agent” to make a purchase, let me know. No additional expense to you  just willing to pass on a good deal

Long story short: existing anti-trust regs dont nearly fit big tech, but plenty at the DOJ are trying to squeeze the round peg through the square hole.

Though, Google and Amazon are more squarely in the sights of the DOJ than is eBay.

I saw this too and I don’t want to make a best offer if they won’t honor it but when I look at any particular watch it says “$820 off or 15% - best offer”. Also they’re emailing me a ton of watches and saying “bidding currently at $3150. If you bid now and win you’ll get $315 off” which seems 100% contrary to the fine print. I’m going to call them in a bit to clarify

Please let us know what you find out. Seriously tempted to pull the trigger on this, even though I really shouldn’t spend the funds.
