    Hello OF community,

I purchased this watch randomly surfing the web as it piqued my curiosity (and because I tend to get trigger happy at times). Inexpensive so not a big deal if it just turns out to be a dud. Delivery next week.

I see it has 'Space Travel X05' written on it and that is what got me curious. Never heard of the company either. Very exciting 'Super Datomatic' old school race car type description as well.

Does anyone have any background info on this brand or this watch in particular? I originally was getting a bed side alarm clock (I know) and saw this in the guy's inventory. I don't have any high hopes for a hidden gem but still would like to know about the company etc.

Will post more pics once I have watch in hand.

    Cheers

I have my suspicions which I’ll keep to myself until I see what is in the case. More pictures please. Here is what Mikrolisk says about the Esperanto name, aside from being a now obsolete universal language that combines elements from many languages.

I know nothing about them, but happened to see another Esperanto watch on ebay a few weeks ago, and the name caught my eye as well.

Yes, same for me. Was just browsing along when I came across the watch. Nothing came up on a quick search. I am more curious about the 'Space Travel X05' bit as I am a fan of Speedies and have FOIS as well. Off course the space travel bit could just be nothing at all.

Your suspicions are almost certainly correct. The more claims on the dial, the cheaper the movement. Something like:

Is this what's inside this watch? Or are you guessing? I don't have watch in hand. Will post pics of movt once it arrives.

    It's just an educated guess.

Not that I am arguing or anything but what did you base your guess on? What specifically lead you to believe this watch will have this movement you posted picture of? There is hardly anything on this brand name out on the web so I guess I am trying to learn here from more knowledgeable posters on issue like yourself. Watch itself is coming from Europe so it will take some time to have in hand but I am curious now and will post pictures after opening it up.

Good thing we didn't bet on it, or you might owe me a dollar. ;-)

Suspicions confirmed. Jewelled, but pin lever escapement. The dial is typical of a snow job. The more stuff on the dial, the lower quality movement in the watch.
