Says it runs fast - probably has a modern battery and the watch has not been tuned to run on a different voltage nor is there a resistor in-line.

While these are cool watches, anyone getting into these hummers should know that it's a losing investment. Service usually costs more than the watch is worth unless you have a very rare model.

True. You'll pay the price of the watch for service in this case.

That is really cool, I like that a LOT

Be aware it wears a bit small.

I saw that and one with that dial is definitely on my list. I could almost push to the price he's asking (in the full knowledge that there's not going to be a return on it) but a combination of the $100 postage to the UK and the fact that I think the case has been heavily refinished just doesn't clinch the deal.

While we're on the subject of people taking the proverbial I was annoyed that I only spotted this one later in the week.

A Unisonic with a display back (???) for €1400. I was at a loose end in west Berlin last Monday and could easily have popped into their shop in Fasanenstr for a bit of fun. Has anybody seen a display back on a Unisonic before?

The original case back was likely lost or damaged and replaced with this "display back." While these are common and popular in modern watches, they were rarely (almost never!) seen in factory original vintage watches. The exception to this would be salesman samples.

The postage is eye watering, but for the record the case hasn't been heavily refinished - it really is a shapeless blob, from the factory. The only thing the watch has going for is that Timothy Leary dial.

I have not. The Unisonic is certainly not a big money collectors watch that has to be kept original to the finest detail, and a display back is a cute idea if done cheaply, but this certainly doesn't qualify

that Timothy Leary dial.
I had to revert to google for that, imagining that Leary might be some kind of anglophone Gerald Genta; perhaps not then 😀 .

Beware of this one appearing on eBay. It sold at auction today for a hammer price of £380 which is fair for what it seems to be, but look at the inside of the case back:

I'll venture that's a redial too

For reference, the first digit of the UG model numbers (the five digit number on the caseback)

1 = 18K
2 = steel
3 = chromed case
4 = gold plated case
5 = 14K
